About This Site

Colleen & Jeff’s Roots (formerly “Greene Roots” and “Colleen’s Connections”) is owned and published by Colleen (Robledo) Greene, MLIS. It is simply a single visible spot for me to compile and share any genealogy research, leads, and inquiries that I choose to make public.

I have published a family history website continuously since 2004, running off of whatever platform I was favoring at the time: TNG, Omeka, Blogger, WordPress, TNG again, and now WordPress again. This current iteration runs on a self-hosted WordPress instance, utilizing a custom child theme, custom taxonomies, and custom post types.

I am curious about your husband’s ancestors, as several of the surnames appear in my line as well. William Henry Greene, b. 1837 possibly Chenago Co., New York married widow Harriet (Wallace) Bemis whose first husband had been killed in the Civil War. Both Harriet and William died in Arizona, she in 1899 and he in 1921. I do not know where the couple married.

I am a Wallace descendant and Harriet was a half-sister to my direct ancestor, W. R. Wallace.

I am helping a friend with the last name Nieto research his family tree. Geography is similar to your family location
